The Colorado Secluded Mountain Home has beautiful mountain views of the San Isabel National Forest, this spacious, secluded three-bedroom-plus-loft/two-bath home sleeps ten in comfort and luxury. Located 15 miles west of Salida in Garfield, and four miles east of the Monarch Ski and Snowboard area, this spectacular property has everything you’ll need for a wonderful Rocky Mountains vacation in winter or summer.
This roomy, multi-level home features a full, modern kitchen and large picture windows. The bedrooms each have queen-size beds, while the loft has a sofa sleeper. The large great room has two full sleepers.
This mountain getaway is our vacation home, and is maintained as a private residence rather than a rental. It’s fully furnished including a washer/dryer, a two-car garage, a telephone, and two satellite TV systems with VCR, DVD, and surround-sound.
The scenic property has a large wrap-around deck with a gas grill; and there’s a natural spring in the yard.
Skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobile trai: Skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobile trails, fishing, white-water rafting, hiking trails from beginners to 14,000-foot peaks, four-wheeling and dirt biking, golfing, hot springs, and local restaurants and shopping are all nearby. ‘Chaffee County’ is home to Monarch Ski and Snowboard Area. Because of the warm winter temperatures, visitors can ski Monarch or snowmobile one day and spend the next in the sun, shopping, mountain biking, relaxing in hot springs pools, golfing, or fishing all in the same winter weekend. Families and high adventure seekers will find Chaffee County to be one of the best values in Colorado. The Monarch season opens in mid-November, and runs through mid-April. Monarch has an elevation of 10,790 feet at its base, and 11,961 feet at its summit — with a vertical drop of 1,171 feet. It offers 670 acres of ski-able terrain along the Continental Divide, in the Sawatch Range within the Pike/San Isabel National Forest.
The area has 54 trails with 21% beginner, 37% intermediate, and 42% advanced. Its longest run is two miles. There are five chairlifts (one fixed quad and four double chairs) which run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily. Monarch’s average annual snowfall is 350 inches.
