Biking Salida

I was struck but the prolific wildflowers while biking Salida over the weekend .  Our spring was cool and wet.  The Colorado Columbine are abundant.

Over the last couple of weeks, Salida has been named a “top location” for many reasons.  The Monarch Crest Trail was rated #2 of 10 for western United States mountain bike rides with a shuttle.  Our fireworks display made the top seven in the country.  The Salida Fire Department lights the beautiful fireworks show off “S” Mountain every 4th of July.

 

Salida was named one of 20 coolest outdoor towns. This mention confirmed what we already knew.  The Upper Arkansas River has been designated Gold Medal and recognized as one of the top ten in the Western United States.

FIBArk (our whitewater boating festival) was named one of 12 Quintessential Colorado Summer Festivals.

Browns Canyon was named one of the newest National Monuments. The designation is another step in the right direction.  Maybe its time to check Salida, Colorado out!
