Local Winery

Our local winery, Mountain Spirit Winery opened in 1995 and is a family-owned and operated boutique winery nestled in the high country of the Upper Arkansas River Valley. They produce premium wines on five acres of farmland with apple orchards and an old homestead, surrounded by 14,000-foot mountain vistas.

Owners Terry and Michael Barkett, wine-maker and son-in-law Andrew Ritchie bring educational backgrounds of clinical medicine, computer science, laboratory technology and culinary expertise to Mountain Spirit’s winemaking. This winery is trying to answer the question: “Everyone has a Merlot and Chardonnay. Do you have anything different to offer?” We continue to explore new blends of wines while maintaining high standards inherent to the gentle art of winemaking, which gives rise to their motto:

“Quality wines with a difference.”

Due to the overwhelming popularity of Mountain Spirit Wines they are only available to the public through the website, directly from the winery or Gallery, or the Twisted Cork Grill and Tap Room in Salida.

The Twisted Cork Grill & Taphouse strives to provide delicious food made with the highest quality ingredients. Their diverse menu incorporates the best from many different regions, many with their own special “twist” on the recipe.

Being located on the “Little River” or South branch of the Arkansas River in Salida, Colorado, allows the Twisted Cork Grill & Taphouse to have a fabulous patio outside the cafe. It’s a wonderful way to enjoy the blue skies and breathtaking scenery Salida has to offer.

The Twisted Cork Grill & Taphouse is located on the outskirts of beautiful Salida, Colorado in the “banana belt” of the Rocky Mountains. Whether enjoying the sounds of the river on the patio during the summer or snuggled next to our fireplace in the winter, we want you to enjoy your visit.
